We spend a large amount of time finding the perfect place to keep our bodies in shape – seeking out the top fitness classes and hunting down the best gyms. But what we forget is, our dogs are our best workout buddies – and they’re the best form of motivation too. While it might take us a while to persuade ourselves to throw on our finest fitness attire and leap out of the house full of energy, our pooches are always more than happy to do so. Here are the ways in which you can keep yourself and your canine companion fit this year…
RUNNING
Your pooch will set the pace and will keep you going as they run by your side. They might even pick up the pace during flatter sections and ease off when climbing hills or turning corners, encouraging you to interval train.
CYCLING
Off road cycling is the perfect activity to keep yourself and your furry friend fit. They will run by your side as you burn calories on the bike.
DOG YOGA
Doga or dog yoga involves teaching your pooch to express and hold specific body postures that will help them remain calm in all sorts of situations. The training also helps to create a better vocabulary understanding and compassion between the dog and human, as well as increasing muscle strength and body awareness. therealdogyoga.co.uk
