INNSiDE Newcastle joins Peter Rabbit: Tales on the Tyne with free family reading sessions

Families can enjoy free Peter Rabbit reading sessions, creative workshops and a unique art trail this summer as INNSiDE Newcastle supports St Oswald’s Hospice…

Looking for family days out in Newcastle this summer? INNSiDE by Meliá Newcastle has joined Peter Rabbit: Tales on the Tyne, bringing together art, storytelling and creativity.

St Oswald’s Hospice created the free public art trail with Wild in Art and The World of Peter Rabbit. The sculptures celebrate creativity. They also raise awareness and vital funds for the hospice.

After the trail ends, organisers will auction the sculptures. Every sale will help fund specialist care for adults, children and families across the North East.

Running across Newcastle and North Tyneside, the trail has been created by St Oswald’s Hospice in partnership with Wild in Art and The World of Peter Rabbit.

The colourful sculptures have been designed to bring communities together through creativity while raising awareness and vital funds for the hospice’s specialist care for adults, children and families living with life limiting conditions across the North East.

Following the trail, the sculptures will be auctioned to help continue supporting the charity’s work.

Meet Tynetastic Peter

As part of its sponsorship, INNSiDE Newcastle has unveiled its own sculpture, Tynetastic Peter, created by acclaimed North East landscape artist Arty Joe.

Arty Joe drew inspiration from journeys along the River Tyne and North East coastline. His colourful design celebrates many of the region’s best loved landmarks.

Speaking about the design, Arty Joe said:

“The artwork is a sequence of illustrations and landmarks inspired by my own frequent trips up and down the Tyne and along the coast on foot and by bike. I liked the idea of capturing a journey.

“Depicting both night and day seemed like a good way to conjure the sense of time passing and I felt it offered more of a storytelling quality to the piece. I hope that seeing my artwork, people will feel a sense of pride in all that we have here in Tyneside and connect it with their own stories and experiences.”
