Review: Tapyard Studios

Food + football = count us in!

We recently had the pleasure of being invited along to Tapyard Studios to watch England take on Denmark in the second group match of the Euros 2024.

Bursting with character and natural charm, Tapyard Studios is a quirky spot hidden within Hoult’s Yard, Newcastle. Think beautiful wooden trusses, exposed brick internals, distinctive external murals and an all-round feel-food atmosphere.

Here, you can indulge in delicious coffee, local beers, classic cocktails and some of the best street food Newcastle has to offer. But tonight, we’re here for the England vs Denmark match, and what the game was lacking in quality, the food certainly made up for.

Serving up the goods tonight is 2Knives Kitchen who are renowned in the city for their unbeatable burgers. But for us, match day calls for finger food and we’re served a generous helping of BBQ chicken wings and loaded fries.

The BBQ chicken wings were a triumph, perfectly cooked with a smoky, tangy glaze. The perfect mid-match bite. The loaded fries were equally impressive, generously topped with rich, flavourful ingredients that left us craving more.

The service here is simply top tier. Even with a jam-packed venue, the staff are attentive, ensuring our local beers are topped up and our needs met with a smile.

The best part? For those looking to tie the knot, this hidden gem has a wedding team on hand to transform your dream wedding into reality. It really does have it all!

With a comfortable draw in the match, top-quality food, a vibrant atmosphere and impeccable service, it’s safe to say we can’t wait for our next visit. We’ll be dreaming of those wings until then…
