If you find yourself reserving your Saturday’s for the finer things in life, we’ve got just the ticket. Introducing Gaucho’s Brunch Fiesta – a Latin-inspired extravaganza held on the last Saturday of every month.

Set to be the most exclusive brunch offering in the city, foodies can expect delicious dishes, flowing cocktails and a vibrant atmosphere.

The venue

Located in a timeless Grade II listed building on Market Street, Newcastle, this Argentinian steakhouse offers carbon-neutral steaks, fine wines, and classic cocktails, making it an ideal choice for date nights, after-work drinks, and private dining in a lively city centre.

With deep hues, muted lighting, and candlelit surroundings, it acts as the perfect backdrop to relax and savour an indulgent meal.

This time, we’re here to try out the new brunch offering. After a busy week at Luxe HQ, I’m ready to kickstart my upcoming annual leave by tucking into endless empanadas and sipping on Aperol Spritz in abundance.

The menu

I’ve had the pleasure of dining at Gaucho before, so I already know I’m in for a treat when it comes to perfectly-cooked steak, but this, this menu is a little different.

So, how does it work?

Foodies can enjoy unlimited starters, a main, dessert and eight alcoholic drinks for just £65 per person. Let us explain…

Gaucho Brunch Fiesta

On arrival, the friendly staff guide you through the menu while a delicious sourdough baguettini, pan de bono, and chimichurri is brought to the table.

Next, it’s time for the free-flowing starters. For the first 45 minutes of your brunch you can indulge in bottomless starters, the only rule is to finish one before ordering another.

Once you can’t face no more or your 45 minutes are up, it’s time to tuck into your main of choice before sweetening the deal with one of two desserts up for grabs.

The drinks? Brunch goers can sip on eight alcoholic beverages of their choice and can mix and match throughout. Choose from a range of classic cocktails, white, red, or rosé wine, lager, or a range of soft drink alternatives.

To start…

Unlimited starters? Sounds like a dream.

With the clock ticking, we get to work on ordering our first starter. For me, it’s the Beef Empanada. The perfectly fluffy pastry houses a fusion of vibrant flavours and succulent beef.

First up for my partner, it’s the Argentine Sausage Plate which comes perfectly presented on a skewer with a selection of morcilla and chorizo. The spice and saltiness of the sausage is accompanied by a delicious picante rojo and refreshing lemon aioli.

Next, after seeing my dinner date’s choice look so good, I go for the Argentine Sausage Plate and it did not disappoint. Packed full of flavour and a hint of spice where needed, I devoured every bite.

For my other half, it’s the Buratta next. Think cherry tomato jam, smashed avocado, creamy mozzarella and juicy tomatoes atop a toasted sourdough. Simple, refreshing, delicious!

Agreeing we’d be far too full to indulge in another, we decide it’s time for our mains.

The main event…

When it comes to the mains, you can choose from Churrasco de Cuadril, the Brunch Burger, Spaghetti Romesco or Steak, Egg and Chimichurri. Small, but mighty, there’s plenty of variety, but we both opt for the Churrasco de Cuadril.

The succulent 200g spiral cut rump is marinated in garlic, parsley and olive oil and served with a choice of chips or salad.

The steak here is simply out of this world. If you’re ever in search of seriously succulent, melt-in-the-mouth steak, then a trip to Gaucho is a must. My partner is a self-confessed ‘steakaholic’ and confirms it’s one of the best he’s had.

Sweetening the deal…

After a much needed break following our multiple starters, a warm basket of bread and mouthwatering mains, it’s time for something sweet.

Choosing between the Chocolate Brownie served with white chocolate ice cream or the Mango, Caramel and Coconut Flan, it’s the brownie that steals both of our hearts.

The warm, gooey and oh-so chocolatey goodness is everything a brownie should be.

Tasty tipples…

As a couple, when it comes to alcohol, we aren’t huge drinkers, so don’t quite take advantage of the eight drinks per person policy. However, we’re partial to a glass of white or a refreshing cocktail.

With plans to visit Italy later this year, I thought it was about time I try my very first Aperol Spritz. Perfectly refreshing, it’s quite possibly going to be my new go-to order. How I haven’t tried this tipple before is beyond me.

My partner mixes things up and tries the sweet sip that is the Citrus Negroni before moving on to a glass of white.

A Pornstar Martini, Apple Fizz, Chandon Garden Spritz, Domaine Chandon, lager, or wine, are also available to sip on throughout your brunch fiesta.

Final thoughts

The lovely Kamilla who is our waitress for the duration is super knowledgeable, helpful and friendly from start to finish. From guiding us through the menu, to sharing her recommendations and engaging in pleasant conversation, she is a credit to the Gaucho Newcastle team.

Yet again, we’ve had another exceptional Gaucho experience. Sensational food, delicious drinks, top tier environment, and friendly staff – what more could you want?

We leave – once again discussing how amazing the steak was – already planning our next visit.
