Park Head Hotel Celebrates Its First Birthday

Time to celebrate…

The Park Head Hotel in Bishop Auckland opened its doors for the first time in February 2023, and now, in celebration of its first anniversary, will be sharing a variety of exciting offers for both locals and tourists alike.

The Auckland Project, which owns and manages the former 18th century coaching lodge, transformed it during a two-year renovation process. And now, after a successful year hosting 10,000 overnight guests and over 21,000 restaurant diners, it’s time to celebrate and say thank you.

Park Head Hotel

A locally renowned restaurant serving timeless classics complements the 38 modern yet sympathetically designed en-suite rooms, including accessible and family rooms.

Celebratory offers

To celebrate the milestone, the venue has launched a selection of deals for both locals and tourists to County Durham, including the ‘Winter Getaway’ deal which is £79 for bed, breakfast and a bottle of fizz. Also available is the ‘Sunday Stopover’ for £99 which includes an overnight stay, breakfast and a Sunday roast for two, with all the (homemade) trimmings and lashings of gravy.

Andrew Hogg, General Manager, said: “The whole team is thrilled with how locals and visitors have responded to the hotel and restaurant.

Park Head Hotel

“We see guests using Park Head Hotel as a base to explore the county, professionals returning for overnight stays, and locals enjoying the restaurant for a catch up or special occasion with loved ones. There’s something for everybody, especially as we introduce amazing new offers to celebrate our first year in business.”

For a teatime treat, warming £10 dishes are available from 5pm – 6pm on Monday – Friday, and the restaurant is also celebrating on Mother’s Day with three-courses for £28 for adults and £20 for children.

“The hospitality industry is extremely competitive and took a battering during the pandemic”, says Andrew.

“So, we feel extremely thankful to be thriving and growing, especially as interest builds in Bishop Auckland as a tourism hotspot and locals immerse themselves in the attractions The Auckland Project unveils.”

The Auckland Project

An important part of its regeneration plans, The Auckland Project opened the Park Head Hotel to complement its portfolio of heritage attractions in the town, fulfilling the need for short stay accommodation that supported the local economy.

Together, The Auckland Project’s attractions tell the remarkable story of Bishop Auckland, from the powerful Prince Bishops of Durham to the town’s surprising connection to the Golden Age of Spanish Art. Visitors can explore Auckland Castle, the Spanish Gallery, the Mining Art Gallery and the recently opened Faith Museum, along with its extensive gardens and deer park.
