What’s Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs about?

Darlington Hippodrome’s panto team have once again pulled it out of the bag with an all-singing, all-dancing, sparkling production of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs that the whole family will adore.

This take on Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs tells the tale we all know and love with a few panto twists. Expect all the usual fun when it comes to Christmassy theatre traditions. Think audience participation, pop hits and silly scenes, all backed by the perfect princess story.

Queen Dragonella does everything in her power to get in the way of Snow White and Prince Gareth’s love story. But will the pair work their way back to each other with the help of Muddles, Nelly Nightnurse and ‘The Magnificent Seven’?

Who’s in the show?

This year’s show is packed full of familiar faces, and they sure do make up the perfect panto team.

Gareth Gates is the leading man as Prince Gareth – a charming prince indeed with sensational vocals and a great sense of humour.

Without giving away too many spoilers, you’ll be treated to a bit of Pop Idol nostalgia with a rendition of his first number one single, a cover of Unchained Melody. Just as iconic as we remember.

Professional quizzer and part of ITV’s team of Chasers, Jenny Ryan (AKA The Vixen) is Queen Dragonella – a convincing villain and perfectly cast to hold the show together.

The lovable Josh Benson is Muddles – pantoland is no unfamiliar place for him and his experience goes a long way. He has audience members big and small in stitches from start to finish and impresses with his clown-like characteristics and tricks.

Expect plenty of near-the-knuckle one-liners, cheeky innuendos and memorable musical numbers.

Marina Lawrence-Mahrra is a wonderful leading lady as Snow White, and Jamie Jones is an absolute hoot as Mrs Nelly Nightnurse – an excellent dame bringing the panto banter to life.

What’s good about it?

This show has all the usual panto silliness with seasonal sparkle and a star-studded cast. What’s not to love?

From impressive sets and sound effects, to side-splitting scenes and plenty of opportunity to get involved, this one is sure to make you smile.
