Tasty Bites At Dosa Kitchen

Dosa Kitchen has recently been praised by The Good Food Guide. All for their superb authentic South Indian food, highlighting their dosas along with sapaad. A set menu with a choice of dishes covering all tastes – sweet, sour, salty, bitter, pungent and astringent.

With all this buzz and excitement in the air, a visit to Dosa Kitchen was a must. Besides, there was no better way to end a busy week at Luxe HQ than to pop in for some delicious bites and toast to the upcoming weekend.

Dosa Kitchen: Interior

From the moment I stepped inside, I notice a harmonious blend of contemporary and traditional elements that create a warm and inviting ambience.

The surroundings are a perfect marriage of sophistication and comfort. The use of natural materials such as wood and stone, combined with elegant lighting fixtures, exudes a sense of serenity, cosiness and relaxation. The latter of which, was very much welcomed after a busy day in the office.

Overall, Dosa Kitchen has a comforting atmosphere about it. Almost like that is the place where everyone escapes to have a breather – a small moment to themselves. A home away from home.

Dosa Kitchen: Starters

After a few minutes of browsing the menu, my friend and I are pleasantly surprised by the perfect amount of options. Not too small and not too overwhelming, however, each small plate is tempting.

Dosa KitchenAs we get approached by the lovely manager Steve, I mention that everything on the menu sounds delicious and I would be happy to go with his recommendation. To my surprise, Steve suggests trying out a few different things. At which point I glance at my friend and we both laugh and nod our heads eagerly.

Once the small plates arrive, we are presented with the top pics by the manager Steve: Prawn Varuval, Chilli Chicken, Gobi 65, Onion Ragi Pakora and Chettinadu Kola Urandai.

Although it was hard to pick one, my favourite small plate was Prawn Varuval – marinated spicy king prawns. As someone that can’t handle spicy food very well, I was pleasantly surprised when Steve explained that at Dosa Kitchen, spicy does not mean “hot” food, it’s more of flavour strength, and I couldn’t agree more.

Dosa Kitchen: Mains

The mix-and-match concept carried into the main menu as well and we were fortunate enough to get a bite of almost everything on the menu. Starting from Lamb Nilgiri Kuruma, Kadala Curry, Prawn Thengapal Kozhambu, Dosa Masala, Chicken Varutha Curry, and of course, Coconut rice.

This will come as no surprise but Dosa Masala – a thin pancake with potato masala, made from a fermented batter of ground black lentils and rice – was nothing I have ever tasted before. Manager Steve kindly informed us of the process and the time it takes to make dosas, but this just confirms that good food takes time, and oh, how good it was!

The quality and flavours of Dosa Kitchen’s food was no surprise to my friend, who apparently is a regular there, paying a visit quite often to enjoy great food for prices that don’t bite. A highlight for her was Prawn Thengapal Kozhambu – prawns with curry leaves, ginger, coconut milk and tamarind.

As someone that enjoys seafood, I had to agree – Prawn Thengapal Kozhambu was nothing short of perfection. Classified as medium spicy, it’s rich in flavour with clear notes of coconut milk and tingles of ginger. Finger-licking delicious!

Dosa Kitchen: Service

The table service at Dosa Kitchen takes the whole experience to new heights. From the first moment of arrival, the attentive and knowledgable staff looks after you.

Manager Steve was extremely kind and friendly, providing expert recommendations and insights into the menu. Checking in on us throughout the meal, to make sure everything is of satisfaction, it’s evident customers here are of great importance, which only rationalises the praise Dosa Kitchen has been receiving.

It is a testament to their commitment to providing an exceptional dining experience that leaves a lasting impression.
