Yorkshire Spa Retreat

Yorkshire Spa Retreat

Yorkshire Spa Retreat is just over North York Moors and it definitely is a treat. There’s no doubt about it, a wellness getaway is a wonderful experience to share with a loved one. In addition to that, it’s the indulgent escape we all need every once in a while.

But after speaking with a life coach about the health benefits that come with these ‘time out’ moments, it got me thinking… Why not just book a day off work, have a digital detox and really listen to your mind and body’s wants and needs?

So, that’s exactly what we did. We turned our phones to ‘do not disturb’ and checked in for an afternoon of spa bliss at the Yorkshire Spa Retreat near Helmsley. The name is exactly what it suggests. Not just a health club with spa facilities – a real rural retreat.

A place where you leave your worries at the door, let your cosy robe embrace you and enjoy the ‘me time’ you deserve.

Yorkshire Spa Retreat: At First Glance…

Reflective of the sweeping landscape that surrounds the retreat, the spa is centred around the simplicity that nature brings.

Yorkshire Spa RetreatThe Wild Swimming Pool is the first thing you see when you enter the glorious outdoor spa garden. It sits at the very heart of the experience and offers a soothing blanket of calm. It’s totally natural, kept clean and healthy by the plants within it.

It’s rather on the chilly side but presents a unique opportunity to experience the goodness that comes with cold water swimming. Right here in an incredibly serene environment. You can immerse yourself in the cold water and stimulate the body. Then reward yourself with a gentle steam in the herbal steam room.

We start our day snuggled up in blankets by the hydro-pool. The sun is beating down and the fresh Yorkshire air is working its magic. It’s time to switch off and let the spa do the talking.

Yorkshire Spa Retreat: The Facilities…

What is so incredibly unique about this retreat is that it is all centred around the great outdoors. You’re not hit with heat and chlorine when you walk through the changing room doors. You are surrounded by wood and glass, so you never really feel like you’re escaping the outdoors.

The main facilities and treatment rooms are scattered smartly around the Wild Swimming Pool. In wooden domes and huts, in keeping with the natural environment.

We start with a splash in the hydro-pool, with rotating jets all doing their bit to relax and recharge the body. After that, we work our way around the little huts of wellness. From the herbal steam room to the sauna and the salt chamber.

All while watching as the trees sway in the breeze and the birds tweet as they fly past. It has all of the benefits of a blissful spa, without compromising on the benefits of the natural world that surrounds us.

The relaxation lounge and communal areas are incredibly inviting and well-equipped. You’ll find everything you need. From refreshments to lotions and potions, hair straighteners and little jars of goodies filled with hair ties and cotton wool pads.

The Treatment…

My treatment of choice is the Honey Butter Repose facial. It’s 60 minutes of pure relaxation, pumping goodness into my now glowing complexion. Just what the doctor ordered.

If the fresh Yorkshire air isn’t enough to give me a boost, this treatment certainly is. My friendly therapist guides me to a luxury suite and talks me through the treatment.

Cocooned in blankets and the blissful aroma that fills the air, it’s not long before I’m drifting off to dream time. All while my face gets the TLC it has been looking for.

Yorkshire Spa RetreatEvery treatment at the Yorkshire Spa Retreat has been carefully crafted to promote relaxation with nature at its heart. This is why Tribe 517 products used – are rich, nourishing balms and oils made from 100% natural ingredients.

Each product used smells delicious enough to eat. Captivating fragrances that you can feel working their magic as they sink into the skin, soothing, transforming and creating balance.

This comforting facial is one of the best I’ve had. It’s a superfood facial that lifts spirits while allowing the body to sink in and drift away. Before I know it, my mind is in a restful state, yet my spirit is alive. I float out of the treatment hut feeling like a new person.
