The Luxe Lowdown: Finty Williams

Finty Williams

Job Title

Where is home?

Home is in London, just near Battersea Power Station.

Three reasons you love where you live?

I love living in this part of London, because it’s so near the Thames and Battersea Park, but also fairly close to my Ma.

What do you do for a living?

I am an actress

A day in the life of you?

There are very rarely two days the same! Sometimes, like at the moment, I’ll be doing a show, some days, narrating audiobooks, other days learning and recording scripts for a self-tape audition, some days hanging out with my wonderful son Sammy.

Any recent, ongoing or upcoming projects or achievements we should know about?

At the moment I am lucky enough to be playing Old Mrs Hempstock in the UK and Ireland tour of The Ocean at the End of the Lane, which runs until October.

What does downtime mean to you?

Downtime means spending time at home, with my partner Joe and Sammy and our two cats, watching films and catching up.

What did you want to be when you were growing up?

I wanted to be an acrobatic nurse when I was very little, then a dancer. I also rather liked the idea of forensic psychology.

What is the most important lesson life has taught you?

The most important lesson life has taught me is to always look for the pluses in life, to always find something positive in every situation, even if the positive is ‘well, I don’t want to do that again!’.

Also to take responsibility for your actions; learn to say sorry and mean it.

Which living person do you most admire and why?

There are two people I admire in my life who teach me everything about the kind of person that I want and aspire to be – my mother and my son.

They are both such amazing wonderful people, they are generous, witty, brilliant, warm, loving and both so so clever. Without them, I’m not sure what I would do.

They are everything to me.

What is top of your bucket list?

Top of my bucket list… gosh that’s tricky! Just to be happy and content, I think. Both in my private life and my career.

What is your most treasured possession?

My most treasured possession would have to be our cats. Their real names are Oberon and Titania, but we call them Ron and Tits. I’m slightly obsessed with them!

What does the weekend mean to you?

The weekend at the moment means two shows on a Saturday, driving back to London through the night, waking up on Sunday in my own bed, having a proper catch-up with Joe, doing the washing, re-pack and getting back in the car and onto the next touring venue.

A memorable holiday?

Being an actress and living with an actor, and having acting parents, holidays can be very few and far between – never feels like a ‘good’ time to go away – so every holiday feels memorable. But when I was 19, we went for the first time to the Caribbean. I’d never been anywhere like it before and it blew my mind.

Best dress?

My best dress is a red Vivienne Westwood dress. It makes an appearance very rarely, but it makes me want to do a dance of joy whenever I look at it.

Who would be your top three dinner guests?

If I were picking my family it would be Ma, Joe and Sammy. If not, it would have to be Prince, Jim Henson and Anne Boleyn (Not sure how that dynamic would work!)

The last place you ate?

The last place I ate was Fig and Thyme Kitchen in Plymouth. I had waffles with bacon and maple syrup. Delicious.

The last book you read?

The last book I read was Dopemine Nation by Anna Lembke. Extraordinary and terrifying.

The last thing you listened to?

The last thing I listened to was the cast recording of Six the Musical

The last thing you watched?

The last thing I watched was the latest episode of The Apprentice. I am totally hooked.

Your three luxe things in life?

My three luxe things in life… our house, my car, and having the best family possible.
