Congratulations are in order as Yorkshire-based Artist Lucy Pittaway has won the ‘UK’s Most Popular Published Artist’ award for the third time at the Fine Art Trade Guild (FATG) Awards held in Stratford Upon Avon on May 14th 2022.

Having been awarded the title for the first time in 2018 for her piece ‘Butterflies and Babies’, the super talented artist went on to win again in 2019 with her piece ‘A Yorkshire Garden’ which was created for the Chelsea Flower Show.

With the awards suspended during 2020 and 2021, this was the first time that the awarding body was back in full swing with Lucy taking centre stage once again for her piece ‘Our Happy Place’.

As the only artist to win this award on three consecutive occasions, Lucy continues to make her mark within the art world; ‘It is such an honour to receive this award. For people to continue to welcome my art into their homes is such a joy, and the support we receive from our customers and collectors is nothing short of incredible.’

‘The past couple of years have certainly been challenging but we managed to keep smiling although there were moments when we thought that the business might not survive. This award makes all the hard work mean something,’ said Lucy.

‘It was very emotionally draining, so to come out the other end not only to have survived, but to actually be thriving and still be relevant to people, I’m humbled and extremely grateful’ she explained. ‘I hope that my journey can be an inspiration to other artists to follow their own paths.’

“After the gap caused by Covid restrictions, it was wonderful to be back together in-person as a Guild Family this year. Voting was particularly close, giving us a shortlist of five finalists.  Despite that tough competition, Lucy was once again a very worthy winner of this award and we were delighted to be able to present it to her on the night.”  Jo Palmer GCF(APF) Adv, Chair & Master of the Guild, May 2019 to May 2022.

The nature of this award demonstrates that consumer support, enthusiasm and appetite for art remains strong and marks a real shift in the way society consumes art, and with Lucy making it so accessible, it’s possible for everyone to have a little piece of artwork in their home.
