As we find ourselves in and out of lockdowns, tiers and local restrictions, we’re doing everything we can to continue enjoying some of our favourite restaurants while supporting local.
We’ve been loving ‘at home’ menus from all of our favourite North East restaurants, including 21 Hospitality Group’s 21 at Home kerbside collection service, Tommy Banks’ Made in Oldstead food boxes, tapas hampers by Chadwicks Inn Maltby and delicious three-course meals from The Bay Horse in Hurworth.
But when we heard that D&D London were teaming up with some of the capital’s finest restaurants to bring a bit of city dining to our homes (nationwide!), we just had to give it a go.
We opted for Sartoria’s At Home meal kit – beautifully prepared meals inspired by Chef Patron Francesco Mazzei’s home region of Calabria and its surrounding areas in Italy.
Who would have thought we’d be tucking into treats from one of Mayfair’s most stylish Italian restaurants in the comfort of our own homes – in the North East?
It’s a great way to get that ‘out out’ feeling without leaving the house. A perfect opportunity to get dressed up, light some candles, pop open a bottle of bubbly and really indulge in expertly prepared delights.
The meal kit is delivered via courier at a selected time, with everything you need to ensure you’re hitting the nail on the head when it comes to enjoying an authentic Sartoria experience.
Each dish is clearly labelled with cooking instructions, ingredients and all the seasonings you need to ensure it is an exquisite feast.
So, what’s on the menu?
We kick things off with a hearty focaccina, topped with garlic and herbs and served with a side of Nocellara olives. This paired with the sumptuous starter – an antipasti of Vitello Tonnato: veal with tuna sauce and pickled vegetables. An easy, ready-to-serve-out dish, washed down wonderfully with a bottle of our own champagne.
Next up is a Welsh lamb ragout with ‘nduja and Grand Padano Riserva. A delicious pasta dish that packs in plenty of flavour and gets the tastebuds working as we move from course to course.
The main event comes in the form of home cured black cod with liquorice, red Tropea onion jam, extra virgin olive oil crushed potatoes and cavolo nero. A quick ‘heat-and-eat’ and it’s the perfect date night main course.
A sweet finish seals the deal in the form of pistachio cake, served with mascarpone and vanilla cream and topped with raspberry sauce. Delicious.
Enjoy this five course feast for just £60pp or £50pp for the vegetarian option. Orders are to be places 48-hours before the chosen delivery date. Delivery days are Thursday – Saturday.
