MY NEW NORMAL: KATE ROSE

We've been checking in with a few Luxe faces to find out how life in the 'new normal' is looking for them. This week, we're catching up with our lovely lifestyle columnist, Kate Rose...
MY NEW NORMAL: KATE ROSE

I GET UP ON A MORNING FOR…

I’m early to bed and an early riser. My day starts at 5am, I enjoy a coconut flat white in peace before my Zoom workout session with APEX. It has kept me motivated and focused, but it has also helped me to maintain a routine whilst navigating the challenges COVID has brought to the business. I answer any urgent emails, send any updates to the team, and organise my working day before the kids wake.

BREAKFAST IS…

Overnight oats, or eggs on sourdough.

MY DESK SET-UP INCLUDES…

A large desk positioned at the window with lots of natural daylight. I love to have a little background music (generally an Ibiza chill album) playing whilst designing – and a jug of iced water with a slice of lemon.

LUNCHTIME BRINGS…

A walk to the studio, which is only two miles from home, to check on any urgent requests and deliveries to customers, before walking back home. I like to pull together a tasty mozzarella salad with fresh tomatoes and basil from my mum and dad’s greenhouse.

TO BREAK AWAY FROM MY HOME OFFICE…

I make a hot drink and go on a long walk along the beach. I always feel a sense of calm and peace when I see the sea, and it gives me lots of new inspiration for future collections.

WHEN 5 O’CLOCK HITS…

I pull on cosy loungewear and prepare something tasty for dinner. I really love cooking, I find it so relaxing. The slower pace of life has encouraged us to sit down as a family for a meal every evening. I have invested in a few new cookbooks over lockdown and love experimenting with new recipes and ideas.

I’M WATCHING…

I actually don’t watch any TV, I would much prefer to flick through a home interiors magazine or compile boards on Pinterest for my next project.

I’M READING…

How Do You Like Me Now? by Holly Bourne. Light-hearted and very funny, it has a modern twist on the Bridget Jones story.

I’M LISTENING TO…

The Bodcast with Chloe Madeley – I love the variety of guests and information about all things health and fitness. A really interesting listen with some handy tips and hints along the way.

3 TOP TIPS FOR STAYING AT HOME…

1. Stick to a routine wherever possible.

2. Always have something to look forward to – be it a soak in the bath, a nice meal, or a movie night.

3. Create a relaxed and cosy environment. Light a candle, plump your cushions, add your favourite flowers to a side table, enjoy and love your surroundings.

QUOTE OF THE DAY…

When you get tired, learn to rest not to quit…”
