MY WFH REGIME: FRANCES ATKINS

During these uncertain times, Luxe has been checking in at several 'home offices' across the region. This week, we catch up with Frances Atkins, head chef at The Yorke Arms...
MY WFH REGIME: FRANCES ATKINS

I GET UP ON A MORNING FOR…

My darling Labs, Penny and Polly. We’re up at 6.30am a strong coffee and a morning run.

BREAKFAST IS…

More coffee, fruit spiralena flax and oats – maybe some toast made from my own brown bread and marmalade.

MY DESK SET-UP INCLUDES…

Glorious garden views. My office at the bottom of the garden is where it all happens. I have a kitchen there where I develop my recipes, and at the moment, I am working with Roger and John on our newly-formed lifestyle company. Stay tuned for more information!

LUNCHTIME BRINGS…

Time to check out the garden. Lunch consists of some form of vegetable soup made from our garden produce and then a good walk for Polly and Penny – possibly a dip in the river for them.

TO BREAK AWAY FROM MY HOME OFFICE…

I have a go at developing new dishes with what’s available from the garden. There is nobody more critical of my food than my husband, which keeps me on my toes.

WHEN 5 O’CLOCK HITS…

It’s gin and tonic time with my husband, Bill. Time to relax and chat about the day’s happenings.

We always have a simple dinner outside – weather permitting it may be grilled meat, fish, eggs from our chickens, salads, my own pasta and of course all our own vegetables. The evening is spent reading, maybe watching a film, and early bed.

I’M WATCHING…

Good TV dramas and psychological thrillers like BBC Two’s Vienna Blood.

I’M READING…

Mainly historical novels.

I’M LISTENING TO…

I always enjoy a bit of Classic FM.

3 TOP TIPS FOR STAYING AT HOME…

1. Work out a good  routine and try to stick to it. I find dog walking is good disciplined exercise.

2. Plan your basic meals for the week  and then throw in a few extras on the day for variation.

3. Have lots of great reading material to transport you into a different world  in the evening for relaxation.

QUOTE OF THE DAY…

“To conquer oneself is a greater task than conquering others. Be kind considerate and happy.”
