Get lost in the beauty of the night at this year’s North Pennines Stargazing Festival. Held over 12 days starting this Wednesday, families are invited to visit the inky black skies in the darkest mainland Area of Outstanding Beauty, to celebrate our fabulous night-cap. Festival highlights include: pop-up planetarium events in Hexham, Barnard Castle and Alston, a screening of Apollo 13, and astrophotography workshops at High Force, The Bowes Museum, Raby Castle and Blanchland.
FOR FOOD AND DRINK
The Vegan Festival 2019 arrives in Newcastle this Sunday. Pop to The Assembly Rooms on Fenkle Street for an endless selection of cruelty-free foods from hot dogs and burgers, to pies and cupcakes – and plenty of drinks, too. What’s more? There will also be educational stalls and cooking demos to show you just how easy it is to be a vegan, and how to cook vibrant dishes at home.
Ruby Wax is heading to Newcastle’s Tyne Theatre & Opera House for an evening of side-splitting fun, based on her best-selling book, How To Be Human. Expect to hear satirical takes on human evolution, hilarious insights on relationship mishaps and a look at what the future holds!
Make your way to Sunderland’s Market Square this Friday for a monthly Farmers’ Market. It’s the perfect opportunity to fill those cupboards ready for the dark, cold nights. Pick up local treats, seasonal produce and some autumn goodies for the home. What a way to start the weekend!
