Seafood and music collides this Friday at Hardwick Hall as the annual Lobster Charity Ball returns. Expect an exquisite evening of canapés, followed by a new Lobster Surf & Turf gourmet menu brought to you by chefs from the Rib Room Steakhouse & Grill. All of this, to be enjoyed alongside fantastic live music from The Bootleg Beatles, Diane Shaw and Rob Lamberti.

The North East’s coolest culture crawl, The Late Shows, returns to Newcastle this weekend – packing in plenty of arty fun for the whole family. Venues including The Biscuit Factory, Seven Stories and Tyne Bank Brewery, to name but a few, will present unique opportunities to see some of the city’s finest events, experiences and exhibitions in a new light after hours. This year’s new addition is the Twi-Lates sessions, where tots are invited to visit the venues from 4pm until 7pm, packed full of special activities for tiny culture-vultures.

Wine-lovers of the North East should book a table at Rockliffe Hall’s exclusive Meet the Producer Wine dinner this Friday. Hosted by the resort’s head sommelier, Daniel Jonberger, who will guide guests through English sparkling wines by boutique producers, Hoffman & Rathbone, this spectacular dinner includes a welcome drink, four-course diner in the 4AA Rosette Orangery restaurant. All dishes will be expertly paired with four English wines, including three beautiful sparkling sips from Hoffman & Rathbone, which guests will be personally guided through by Ulrich Hoffman himself.

Buckle up for a beauty of a ballet screening at the Princess Alexandra Auditorium, Yarm, as ROH Royal Ballet is screened live with a sensational triple bill. Christopher Wheeldon’s Within the Golden Hour is based around seven couples separating and intermingling, to music by Vivaldi and Bosso. Crystal Pite’s Flight Pattern uses a large dance ensemble and Gorecki’s familiar music. Between them, a new work by Sidi Lars Cherkaoui has its Royal Ballet premiere.

Whitby Fish and Ships Festival celebrates everything that’s special about the Yorkshire Coast’s magnificent maritime culture, from the building of its boats to its multi-award winning fish restaurants. Events include live cookery demos from local chefs in the seafood kitchen marquee, including celeb chefs Brian Turner and Jean-Christophe Novelli. Look out for the fish filleting demonstrations and BBQs, fireworks and children’s activities, maritime sculptures from Emma Stothard and loads more.
