REAL WEDDING: GARDEN GLAMOUR AT LARTINGTON

Lindsay & James Purdue

Their relationship bloomed during fresher’s week and blossomed in Bakewell, but it was their big day at Lartington Hall that set the seal on their love. Lindsay and James’ story started as a couple of 18-year-olds at university. 10 years later, James surprised Lindsay with a romantic picnic by the river in Bakewell, got down on one knee and promised to love her forever. The pair then set off to Windermere where a beautiful lakeside property housed their families for a weekend celebration.

The venue

The couple tied the knot at the idyllic, indulgent and utterly gorgeous Lartington Hall near Barnard Castle. So gorgeous it gave Lindsay goosebumps on her first visit. In keeping with the venue, they styled their day with opulence, class and elegance in mind. Plenty of white, gold and soft tones of green made for the perfect backdrop.

The bride wore

After visiting several bridal boutiques, Lindsay finally found ‘the one’ at Mia Sposa in Newcastle. Her perfect Pronovias gown was made with mikado silk and boasted detail buttons down the back and on to the train. Lindsay walked down the aisle in Dune heels and ticked off her ‘something blue’ with the garter her mum wore on her wedding day. An Alan Hannah crystal tiara finished the look. Makeup was mastered by Marta Make Up and her hair do was done by Leanne from Get Up and Pin Up.

Lindsay’s bridesmaid sister wowed crowds in a soft blush, metallic dress from Coast, complete with gold headpiece to add a touch of glamour.

The groom wore

Ted Baker was the team behind James and his groomsmen’s three-piece suits. Justin Reece shoes from Master Debonair and vintage penny cufflinks gifted from his dad completed the look.

The cake

A fantastic four-tier creation by Lyn Robinson at Bohemian Bakehouse wowed guests – complete with fondant icing, a champagne lustre tier, gold ribbon and fresh white blooms.

Special details

The entertainment key at Lindsay and James’ glamorous gathering. Inflatable bouncy castle ‘Pony Hoppers’ were set up on the lawn, bringing everyone together for ‘race day’ in the sunshine. Acoustic guitar soloist, David Ball, set the soundtrack of the day, playing punchy tunes during the drinks reception. Spectacular six-piece, Something For The Weekend followed, getting the party started as day turned to night.

Favours brought something sweet – and Scottish – to the day. The couple met in Dundee, so wanted to incorporate this into their wedding in some way. Perfect packages of fudge and macaroon were tied up with The Black Watch tartan ribbon.

The honeymoon

Lindsay and James jetted off to the Caribbean for a beautiful honeymoon in Antigua. White sand and turquoise waters made for the ultimate beach break.

The photographer

The lovely Charlotte Eve from Eve Photography snapped the couple’s big day. Her ethereal, light and airy shots worked wonders at the luxurious Lartington Hall and she captured all of their special moments in her unique style.
