Three North East rock acts line-up for a special performance with Royal Northern Sinfonia to celebrate the ensemble’s 60th anniversary. Maxïmo Park, Field Music and Du Blonde will perform their own music, specially arranged for the orchestra to start the birthday weekend of celebrations, and its 2018/2019 season, with a bang. In addition to the RNS Rocks, the celebrations will continue with family fun at the Big RNS Kids’ Birthday Party. The weekend rounds off with a Big RNS Birthday Gala, featuring works from Beethoven, Mozart, Prokofiev, Haydn and more.

After a sell-out run earlier this year, Laura Lindow’s critically-acclaimed adaptation of War of the Worlds returns to Northern Stage. The production of HR Wells’ sci-fi classic relocates the story to the North East, and is directed by Elayce Ismail, who has worked with companies including the National Theatre, Royal Opera House, Young Vic, Gate, Soho Theatre and the Royal Court.
