UK GETAWAY: HARVEST HOME

In the quiet farm hamlet of Tughall Steads, near Newton-by-the-Sea, lies The Apple Store - a cool, contemporary cottage, where bold design and cosy interiors come together under one recently-revamped roof.

Perfectly-positioned down a country lane and cocooned by tranquil, open farmland, it’s a neat getaway for families and groups of chums in search of a bit of solitude this autumn/winter.

Outdoorsy types will love its whereabouts. Beadnell and Bamburgh beaches – top destinations for sandy strolls – are mere moments away by car and the surrounding countryside provides the perfect backdrop for gentle, afternoon hikes and wanders at sunset.

There’s also tons of garden space to enjoy – as well as a fruit orchard (which inspired the name) if you fancy some apple-picking fun.

But it’s equally as impressive inside. Following weeks of renovation earlier this year, what was once a small, tired cottage is now a bright and inviting holiday home, with enough room for seven.

Walls have been knocked down and bold choices have been made when it comes to furnishings, textiles and colours – and the results are an interiors lover’s dream. Here a few of our favourite spaces inside this hip holiday home…

Wow walls

We love the striking wooden apple wall feature – handmade by a local carpenter!

Take a seat

The cottage’s dining table was made out of reclaimed apple crates.

Lay your head

There are three spacious bedrooms to discover – two with king-size beds, one with bunk beds!

Go green

The garden orchard is all kinds of dreamy!
