A simple, yet effective mojito with a Durham Gin twist that can be topped up with champagne to create a luxurious Southside Royale.
50ml Durham Gin
15ml Sugar syrup
8 mint leaves
Soda water or sparkling wine/Champagne
Garnish: mint leaves and lime wedges
Muddle the limes and four of the mint leaves in a Collins glass and top with ice. Add the Durham Gin and sugar syrup, before covering the glass with a cocktail shaker and shaking. Double strain into a glass and muddle in some of the leftover mint leaves gently. Top up with soda water or sparkling wine/Champagne. To finish, garnish with squeezed lime wedges and a sprig of mint.
A fruity twist on the classic Tom Collins cocktail with Durham Strawberry and Pink Pepper Gin Liqueur – sure to be a garden party favourite.
50ml Durham Strawberry and Pink Pepper Gin Liqueur
25ml freshly squeezed lemon juice
10ml grenadine syrup
Fill a large glass with ice and pour in the liqueur, lemon juice and syrup. Top up (slowly to create the sunrise effect) with soda water. To finish, garnish with a slice of lemon and couple of cocktail cherries.
An elegant take on a classic brandy cocktail in honour of World Gin Day. The fresh citrus flavours make for an uplifting aperitif, to be savoured slowly.
35ml Durham Gin
35ml freshly squeezed lemon juice
Sugar syrup (optional)
Add Durham Gin, lemon juice, Cointreau and sugar syrup (to sweeten) into a glass and shake in a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Double strain into a cold martini glass. Express the lemon peel*, garnish on the edge of the glass and enjoy.
*give the lemon peel a good twist before putting it onto the edge of the glass as it will express the fragrant oils to give the drink an extra burst of citrus.
