AWAY FROM IT ALL
We check-in to Edinburgh’s new and oh-so-chic aparthotel, Eden Locke, home to 72 Instagram-worthy studios, housed within a grand Georgian property…
TIME OUT
The Vermont Hotel, Newcastle, is opening the doors to its exclusive Sky Lounge this Bank Holiday Weekend, to help raise funds for Percy Hedley Foundation. Entry fees go straight to the North East charity and, once in, you’ll be free to sip on cocktails all nugget long while taking in the breathtaking views.
Head for Lanchester Cricket Club tomorrow, Saturday and Sunday for a mix of boozy treats and live entertainment, as the venue hosts the village’s very own Beer Festival. Nab a ticket, grab your glass, programme and tokens, and get toasting to the Bank Holiday.

WITH THE KIDS
Rally the troops, grab some wheels from The Cycle Hub, Newcastle, and take off on a family bike ride around the Quayside. When you’re done, return to the Hub to join its Saturday Breakfast Club. Think bacon sarnies, Belgian waffles and avo on toast, washed down with hot drinks or juice, for a fiver.
Take them to Tynemouth’s Blue Reef Aquarium to check out its brand new tropical rock pool. They’ll learn all about the fish and mammals living in the Pacific waters and get hands-on with some of the attraction’s new creatures.
FOODIE
Malton Food Lovers Festival returns for its 10th year, packed with heaving stalls of local produce and delicious street food, talks and tastings, live music and demos from big-name chefs. A true celebration of Yorkshire’s finest produce and cooking – don’t miss it.
Darlington Food and Drink Festival is set to serve up three days’ worth of Bank Holiday goodness. Watch celebrity cooks show off their skills, take part in burger battles, shop stalls and take part in tasty workshops.
