KIM LE-NEVEU

Kim Le-Neveu is a well-known face in hairdressing in the region. She and Steve Jones opened the doors at Boilerhouse, Jesmond back in 1985 and have kept up with trends ever since. Last year they branched out with a salon on Oueburn run by son Felix and niece Saskia.

My son Felix, niece Saskia and the fabulous team representing the next generation of Boilerhouse at new Ouseburn salon.

Luxe places >>

For a weekend > Notting Hill – my place for inspiration and excitement. It’s where I go to recharge my creative batteries!

A long holiday > I rarely get the chance for long holidays but I have loved touring Italy in the past and particularly love Venice

A treat > The new Ouseburn salon. It’s a real treat to use the site as a dedicated training academy every Monday without any other salon distractions. Plus, I love tending to my wall of plants and succulents that get so many compliments!

Luxe relax >>

Best food > Pacific rim cuisine.

Best wine > Always a full-bodied red, though in Summer I am partial to an Aperol Spritz!

Favourite restaurant > When in Newcastle, I like 21. But my favourite and go-to London restaurant is E&O.

Perfect weekend > Browsing for trinkets at various markets and catching up with family.

Downtime means > unwinding by creating my Magpie Jewellery.

Best telly > I love binge-watching series, my favourites being the Sopranos and Power.

Best book > Trashy, escapist romance novels – so long as it’s not Mills & Boon! I read hundreds of books but I couldn’t really tell you what the book was about as soon as I’ve put it down!

Best sounds > Nick Cave, always.

Luxe shop >>

Best shopping city > London!

Favourite shop > I am a follower of vintage so I go far and wide to source the best finds, rather than head to one specific shop.

Luxe retail treat > A new red lippy.

Best buy > I love all my eBay finds, including my wacky taxidermy collection.

Luxe party >>

A memorable night out > An inebriated session at Beach, Blanket, Babylon in Notting Hill which ended in cutting a fellow patron’s hair at the bar with a pair of kitchen scissors!

Perfect party > Various parties thrown over the years to celebrate the many landmark achievements and anniversaries of Boilerhouse.

Best dress > I favour my vintage kimonos over dresses.

Dinner date > Steve, my life and business partner of over 40 years or, failing that, Karl Lagerfeld as I think he would be fascinating if I could actually get him to talk!

Your luxe things in life >>

Our business, Boilerhouse. We strive to be luxe in every aspect, from the décor to the whole experience of visiting our salons and of course, with the hair we turn out.
