Nestled in the Vale of Grasmere, quietly tucked away in a charming backwater close to the centre of the village, Rowan at Grasmere offers one of the finest accommodations in the heart of Lakeland.
Newly refurbished and designed with exceptional attention to detail, blending traditional and quality materials with luxury amenities, it’s a real winner for groups and couples thinking of escaping to the Lakes for a long weekend to kick-start 2018.
Stunning views from every window merge with the fantastic social spaces in the open-plan lounge, dining and kitchen. Three sumptuous double bedrooms, each with premium mattresses and linens, luxurious en-suites and smart TVs offer the ultimate in comfort and relaxation. Complemented by outdoor seating and dining in the splendid garden with panoramic views to the surrounding fells, this house will create glorious memories for years to come.
The historic town of Grasmere, with its ancient church, is just a few minutes stroll away, but the choice is yours: stay in and relax or get out and explore. Walks of all kinds start straight from the front door; wander into the village, amble along the riverside or lakeshore, or put on your boots for famous fell rambles and high-level mountain routes.
On arrival, you’ll notice the high curved stone walls and gated entrance, which opens to reveal the property’s great-sized garden, generous parking and amazing fell vista. A Lakeland slate-flagged path leads to the front door.
Inside, the living areas are arranged for either relaxed socialising or quiet intimate evenings. The lounge features a stone fireplace and a log-burning stove – curl up in front of them on the sofas with a good book and a glass of red, or catch up on TV.
The kitchen and dining area are the heart of the home, both boasting uninterrupted garden views across the fields to fells and crags. French doors open directly onto the south-facing terrace with outdoor sofa seating and dining for everyone. A wall mounted Smart TV gives additional viewing choices.
The kitchen is one of the best equipped you could ask for, with an AGA 60 cast iron range cooker, a Slide&Hide electric Neff oven, gas hob with wok ring, induction hob and microwave. Combined with the large American-style fridge/freezer, a sink with instant boiling water tap for tea/coffee making, a wet bar area and the walk-in pantry with wine storage, it’s a high-tech space that foodies will love. Two super-quiet dishwashers and the generously-sized second sink make washing-up quick and easy.
As for bedrooms, the property has three double rooms, all with quality bedding, linens and furnishings. Each has tiled en-suite facilities and fittings, tall radiators to warm your luxury cotton towels on and electric underfloor heating for extra toastiness.
Outside, the garden is a delight year-round with established plant and shrub borders and locally-quarried stone shards. The south-facing terrace is a wonderful place for outdoor dining and socialising. Alfresco dining is a must; there are two garden patios, one offering an additional dining area and the other bench seating – two ideal spots to sit and enjoy the glorious views across the garden to the house and hills from sunrise to sunset.
