The newly-converted Swallowtails Barn is super cosy spot on Northumberland’s blustery and beautiful coast – one to have a peek at if you’re thinking of escaping here over your Christmas break.
Surrounded by farmland and big-time views over the Coquet Valley, with easy access along pretty country lanes to the Heritage Coast, the self-catering bolthole can be found in small farming hamlet of Low Town – just a 15-minute walk from the village of Longframlington – with Warkworth beach moments away by car.
The cottage sleeps two in a chic double bedroom with kingsize bed, there’s also a pocket sprung sofa bed in the living room for a little one. Slumber on crisp white linen, surrounded by cosy cushions and throws, and pack away your things in vintage furniture – it’s the little touches that make all the difference here.
A triple contemporary skylight in the vaulted ceiling allows light to flood in through the original beams in to the spacious living room/kitchen – enjoy a bit of stargazing in front of the cosy log burner on a dark winter’s night.
Beautiful country-style kitchen units come complete with granite and wood worktops and you’ll also find a family-sized fridge freezer, microwave, kettle, toaster and coffee machine, electric fan oven, ceramic hob, dishwasher and tumble dryer – everything you need for a long weekend. There’s a family bathroom with bath and shower, too.
Guests can enjoy free membership at nearby Linden Hall, the cottage comes with free Wi-Fi and all linen, towels and toiletries are provided, plus coffee, tea and a choice of welcome baskets, packed with either Afternoon Tea or breakfast bits.
Pick up larder must-haves from Longframlington; head to the butchers and supermarket for all your fry-up needs or settle in at one of the many cosy pubs for a spot of Sunday dinner.
