IT’S ALMOST PANTO TIME!

It's that time of year again, time to book up some festive fun for the whole family. Because what's Christmas without a panto? Here are some of our favourite star-studded shows set to take the stages of the North East.

Panto-lovers of Darlington, you’re in luck. The pantomime is back in town after an exciting renovation, transforming the Darlington Civic Theatre back to its former glory. This season, Darlington Hippodrome presents Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs – the fairest panto in all the land! This tummy-tickling, family-friendly show will star boyband heartthrob Lee Ryan, West End leading lady Zoe Birkett, Middlesbrough-born funny-man Patrick Monahan, Coronation Street’s Eric Potts and comedian Liam Mellor. It’s a star studded line up and it’s set to be one of the best ones yet. Round up the family this Christmas and be amongst the first to step inside the newly restored theatre as we welcome pantomime to Darlington Hippodrome. Jack and the Beanstalk

PANTODROME, Times Square, Newcastle

There’s a giant pantomime adventure sprouting up in Times Square Newcastle this year at the PANTRODOME – a purpose built luxury theatre just for Christmas! And it’s set to be a sparkling show from start to finish, starring Newcastle’s own Denise Welsh as Mother Nature and Emmerdale and I’m A Celebrity contestant Adam Thomas as Jack himself. It’s a story we all know and love and it’s coming to the stage this Christmas in a family-friendly spectacular that promises to have you singing, laughing and dancing your way through the festive season. Join Jack, his trusty cow and grab your magic harp as Times Square Panto takes people of the North East on a remarkable journey to the castles in the clouds where you’ll encounter fearsome giants, golden eggs and larger than life characters. Have a pop at the panto magic this Christmas from Monday 11 December until Saturday 30 December. The perfect festive treat – it’s a barrel of laughs for the whole family!

Pinocchio

Stockton Arts Centre

Nearly There Yet in association with Proteus, the Albany and ARC Stockton present Pinocchio – a dazzling display for the festive season! Audiences will be taken on an enchanting adventure told by storyteller, Geppetto. Join Pinocchio on a fun-filled journey where you’ll come meet a shady fox and cat, a performing donkey, a terrible whale, a talking cricket and many more exciting characters along the way. Featuring circus acts, puppets and magical storytelling, all performed on a beautifully hand crafted set – this is one for the whole family and it’s sure to bring a little bit of festive magic to the colder months. Made especially for ARC, this is a super special show and it’s not to be missed this Christmas! Opening night is Monday 4th December and you can catch the show at Stockton Arts Centre until Saturday 23rd December. Feel the magic!

Robinson Crusoe

Gala Theatre, Durham

The swashbuckling tale of Robinson Crusoe comes to the Gala Theatre, Durham this Christmas in a family-friendly pantomime phenomenon. Panto-lovers, round up your pals, parents, partners and little people and prepare to set sail into a world of hilarity and adventure starring Gala Theatre favourites Neil Armstrong and Paul Hartley. Robinson Crusoe is shipwrecked on a desert island and has to set sail on an adventure for survival. Take to the seas this Christmas and join in the journey of Robinson Crusoe with all the family. Tickets are available from Thursday 23 November until Saturday 6 January – meaning there’s lots of panto fun to be had, but tickets sell out fast so book yours now!

Cinderella

Playhouse, Whitley Bay

Playhouse Whitley Bay and Blue Genie Entertainment presents ‘Cinderella’ as this years dazzling pantomime display. This fabulous, family-friendly production will star X Factor finalist Ray Quinn as Prince Charming and comedian Steve Walls for a bit of added laughter. Will Prince Charming rescue the beautiful Cinderella from her Ugly Sisters at Hardup Hall? Find out at this pantomime fairytale from Saturday 2 December until Sunday 7th January 2018. Think enchanting Fairy Godmothers, bashful Buttons, glittering costumes and a true rags to riches tale.
