In recent years it has become the trendiest craft spirit going – and with that, it has opened up a whole new world of boozy adventures for gin-lovers, with a stronger emphasis on experimenting with new flavours and supporting local distillers.
It’s International Gin and Tonic Day, so there’s never been a better time to indulge in the smooth spirit and here at Luxe HQ, we’ve curated some fabulous gins and cocktails to suit every personality and mood.

DAFFY’S GIN
Cool and quirky. You’re creative but you’ve still got your feet on the ground. You’re the friend that’ll be fashionably late to the party but will never forget to bring a bottle of booze to share!
TRY THIS COCKTAIL:
50ml Daffy’s
25ml fresh lemon
12.5ml raspberry syrup
25ml egg white
Mix it all together in a shaker and enjoy in a goblet. Garnish with a mint leaf – maybe add a dash of Prosecco if you’re craving something fizzy.
BATHTUB GIN
Chilled and sweet, you’re an easy going person that’s easy to talk to. You prefer having a quiet night in than going out and painting the town red. Everyone can always count on you to give quality advice.
TRY THIS COCKTAIL
50ml Bathtub Gin
50ml Lemonade
25ml Raspberry juice
Half fill a tall glass with ice cubes before adding the gin, juice and lemonade and stir. Garnish with fresh raspberries and a slice of lemon.
EDINBURGH PLUM AND VANILLA GIN LIQUEUR
A little girly but nothing wrong with that! You’re flirty, eccentric and have the most entertaining (if somewhat embarrassing) stories to tell. You’re open minded and live life to the fullest.
TRY THIS COCKTAIL
50ml of Edinburgh Plum and Vanilla Gin Liqueur
30ml Fentiman’s Victorian Lemonade
20ml Cranberry
10ml Elderflower Cordial
Pour all of the ingredients into a shaker and mix before pouring into a gin glass. Add ice and dark cherries to garnish.
SIPSMITH V.J.O.P.
You always see the silver lining in any situation and strive to brighten everyone’s day. Some would argue that you’re a little naive but you feel happiest when being kind to others. Much like a good gin, you provide those around you with reliable companionship and simple pleasures.
TRY THIS COCKTAIL
40ml V.J.O.P.
20ml Rose Tea
20ml Lemon Juice
15ml Sugar Syrup or honey to sweeten
Mix V.J.O.P. with the rose tea, lemon juice and sweetener of choice. Add large ice cubes and garnish with a slice of lemon.
ELEPHANT GIN
Happiest when traveling, you get bored if you’re not exploring new things and places. You’d always opt for tagines over Sunday dinners and would rather spend money on a good rucksack then an expensive handbag. Your friends describe you as worldly, cool and outgoing and your Instagram fills everyone with wanderlust.
TRY THIS COCKTAIL
50ml Elephant Gin
5ml Absinthe
Top with lemon tonic (or use tonic and lemon juice)
Garnish with Mint
Pour the gin, absinthe and lemon tonic to a snifter glass. Add crushed ice and mint leaves and enjoy!

50ml Gin
Lemon Tonic
15ml elderflower cordial
Add all the ingredients to a gin glass before garnishing with ice and juniper berries.

TRY THIS COCKTAIL
50ml of McQueen Smokey Chilli Gin
40ml Ginger beer
20ml Lime Juice
Add all the ingredients to a tall glass half full with ice cubes and garnish with lime.
POETIC LICENSE NORTHERN DRY GIN
People don’t get the right idea about you. You stick to your guns and would rather be true to yourself than change in order to make gossipers happy. You’re a true friend that you can always count on when you need them the most.
TRY THIS COCKTAIL
50ml gin
30ml Bitter lemon
20ml Pineapple Juice
Add the gin, bitter lemon and pineapple juice to a shaker. Once mixed, pour into a gin glass with ice cubes and garnish with a mint leaf and wedge of lime.
