The North East Oyster Festival returns to Hardwick Hall this Friday with live performances from former Spandau Ballet frontman, Tony Hadley, The Wild Murphys, Purveyors of fine Irish music, Steve Rawlings Entertainer, Compere Steve Walls and the JJ Galway Band. The Oyster Festival is as glamorous as it gets – think champagne, oysters, music and glad rags. The event includes a champagne reception, a superb three-course dinner, oyster stalls and a bustling bar – not to mention the marvellous music by best-loved performers including Tony Hadley. It’s a must on the social calendar this autumn – don’t miss out!

Find lovely local produce, local farmers and local agriculture at Stokesley Show this Saturday. The North East’s largest one-day agricultural show, it’s the perfect day out for all the family – with live performances, best-in-show animal competitions, art displays, tractors and a glorious food and beer tent for the grown ups! Stokesley Fair is also in town, so why not make Saturday a family-fun day and pop into the delightful market town after the show. Expect fabulous fairground rides, amusements and tasty toffee apples as day turns to night and the neon lights light up the town.

The ‘funny and heartwarming’ new musical, Son of a Preacher Man comes to the Sunderland Empire. It’s the journey of three lonely hearts who meet at Motown bar, The Preacher Man. Featuring the greatest hits of Dusty Springfield, and starring Diana Vickers and Debra Stephenson, this musical is bound to have audiences laughing, crying and singing their hearts out to soulful hits.
