We’re feeling good about the new season – and it seems our friends at 12 Harland Place are too. We’re all getting together to say hello to September by waving goodbye to the warm summer nights this Sunday in Norton. Check in for an evening of live acoustic music at the Terrace Sundown Session featuring Groove Lounge. For just £10 pp, Sundown Session-goers will toast to autumn with a glass bubbly as they enjoy the live music on the terrace. See summer out in style at 12 Harland Place.

WHAT'S ON THIS WEEK

The North East’s biggest sporting event returns this weekend! Whether you’re running, you’re cheering on a friend or family member or you just want to soak up the Great North Run atmosphere, there’s plenty for the family to get involved in. The fun kicks off on Saturday as the Great North CityGames comes to town, where leading elite athletes compete in a pop-up athletics meeting on locations both sides of the Tyne, free to spectate and broadcast live on BBC Television. For runners preparing for the big day, the Barilla Pasta Party offers a free feed to all registered participants on the Saturday afternoon where they will be given last-minute training tips from elite athletes attending the event. Sunday is the day of the big event. Wave your loved ones off from Newcastle over one of the many footbridges over the Central Motorway, or head – by foot – straight to the Tyne Bridge to capture that iconic shot. Catch the Tyne and Wear Metro to South Shields and make your way to the finishers’ village where you can cheer your family and friends over the line.

WHAT'S ON THIS WEEK

The second season of ‘Kynren – an epic tale of England’ is still in town for two more performances on Saturday 9th September and Saturday 16th  September – don’t miss out this year! Following the success of the show in its first season, visitors can expect to experience extra layers of detail, more special effects and larger cast numbers, all to a fabulous soundtrack. Not only will visitors experience extraordinary displays of horsemanship, the performance of the horses themselves will be even more impressive. The horses will be joined on stage by fleecy, furry and featured friends; such as an augmented flock of Texel sheep and a larger than ever gaggle of geese. Starting at sunset and ending in starlight, the spectacular show is set against the stunning backdrop of Auckland Castle in Bishop Auckland. Don’t miss out!

WHAT'S ON THIS WEEK

It’s officially autumn and we can’t think of a better way to welcome in the new season than a weekend trip to Saltburn Farmer’s Market. We’re falling in love with harvest produce and we’re delighted to hear we can satisfy our cravings this Saturday in Saltburn! With a tasty mix of popular stalls and special guests, expect to see a wide range of locally produced meat and game, fresh fruit and veg, wild and garden herbs, artisan bread, handmade cheese and much, much more. With a family friendly atmosphere, the market offers the chance to buy good local food that’s hard to find elsewhere. A lovely family day out at the seaside.
