Peace and Loaf, Jesmond will be hosting Tom Reeves, winner of the Young North West Chef of the Year 2017 and current finalist for the National Young Chef of the Year, on the 14th of November in a one-off special dining event with the venue’s Chef Patron, David Coulson. Diners can look forward to an eight course tasting menu with dishes prepared by Tom and Dave.
Tom, originally from Hartlepool, was first introduced to Dave at the age of 14 where the two worked at a local golf club. Here, Tom was able to learn the tricks of the trade and perfect his techniques. Believe it or not, this wasn’t the only place the two have worked together, the duo have also conquered Wynyard Hall before moving onto Peace and Loaf in Jesmond.
Tom then transistioned to Cumbria where he was snapped up by the infamous L’Enclume restaurant in Cartmel. L’Enclume is no stranger to praise, in the 2017 Good Food Guide, L’Enclume was awarded 10 out of 10 for the fifth time and was its top restaurant for the fourth consecutive year. However, Tom still values all the skills he learned from Dave:
“Dave taught me to cook clean and tidy and most importantly to not waste anything! I have taken this skillset with me to L’Enclume and it will stay with me forever.”
Whilst the overall menu is kept under wraps, Tom is certain that it will be a night diners won’t forget:
“I’m looking forward to trying some new dishes and experimenting with some seasonal ingredients, I will also be taking inspiration from some old favourites and giving them a new twist. You will just have to wait and see.”
The tasting menu is priced at £65pp. The first course will be served at 7:30pm and a deposit of £20pp is required with booking.
