For many, summer is about sneaking off to warmer climes in search of white sand, sangria and long, lazy days spent slapping on suncream.
But there’s a lot to be said for leaving the passport in your underwear drawer, heading for the station and embarking on a relaxing UK city break.
York is one of our favourite nearby cities – buzzy, historic, great for shopping, food and drink, and mere moments away by train.
If you fancy spending the weekend there, there are few gems to be found accommodation-wise. One of them being 11 Stonegate Court, which manages to offer peace and privateness, right in the heart of the city.
Decked out to the highest of standards throughout, the apartment brings the wow factor with unique artwork, glossy floorings and light and airy spaces, offering couples and chums a place to lay their heads in style.
There’s an open-plan kitchen/dining area, two good-sized bedrooms (one of which can be transformed into a twin room) and bathrooms, a spacious lounge area upstairs (we love the plush L-shaped sofa and LCD TV) and a breathtaking, wrap-around balcony, boasting panoramic views of York in all its glory, plus York Minster. A great spot for brekkie and late-night suppers.
Added little extras include allocated parking for car, just a short walk away, a generous welcome gift from the city’s famous Betty’s and Molton Brown toiletries.
