The Mavericks are set to play at the Sage, Gateshead this Thursday in what promises to be a refreshing stage show with an abundance of exciting material. A blend of Cuban grooves and Bakersfield-inspired twang, it’s set to be a brilliant night of nostalgic tunes and contemporary twists. The Mavericks were founded more than 25 years ago as an alternative band in a Miami rock scene dominated by hair metal and punk. They won a Grammy in 1995 and have charted several singles and albums while earning accolades as one of the finest live bands in the business. This is a must-see for alternative music-lovers!

This family-friendly event encourages visitors to channel their inner Bear Grylls by project managing a family shelter using reclaimed wood, rope and nails. Experts will be on hand throughout the day to help you with basic construction techniques and equipment know-how. It’s time to get creative… will you survive the storm?
