intu Metrocentre and intu Eldon Square will host two days of free activities and entertainment on Saturday 1 and Sunday 2 July as they kick off one of the North East’s biggest summer celebrations.
Visitors to intu Metrocentre will enjoy a host of free family fun to celebrate the start of summer in style. Shoppers can sit back and relax in a giant deckchair, soak up a tropical vibe as the North Tyneside Steel Band provides an uplifting, summery soundtrack, while little ones play in the sand at the indoor beach, or embrace their inner mini-swashbuckler on a pirate ship after decorating their very own pirate hat.
There’ll be crazy golf course, too, plus fun photo booths and even a digital caricaturist who will create digital portraits for shoppers to take away as a memento of the party. Herbert, Sherbert, Maggot, Rusty and the Fairytale Princesses will also be entertaining shoppers mall-walkers and kids can even snap a selfie with the giant roaming seagulls or the hilarious Granny Turismos.
The fun will continue over at intu Eldon Square, where an eclectic mix of bands, acoustic artists and singers will be serenading and putting smiles on the faces of intu shoppers. Kids and grown-ups can also get involved in fun garden games, creative crafts have their faces painted and enjoy free, live beauty demonstrations. Young gardeners will also have the chance to decorate and personalise their very own garden gnome and make veggie babies out of prize winning potatoes.
Foodies will be kept happy, too, thanks to the tasty food sampling that will be taking place across both centres, showcasing the very best food and drink offers available to visitors, as well as the chance to walk away with some fabulous prizes.
At intu Metrocentre, visitors are invited to try to beat the giant ‘buzz wire’ machine (the quickest time wins a £100 intu Gift Card) and at intu Eldon Square, shoppers can try their luck at a traditional tombola, which will be offering hundreds of prizes and raising vital funds for Hadrian School in Benwell – one of intu’s Charities of The Year.
