Visit the Centre For Life’s planetarium and experience the blazing colours of the Northern Lights. The short film follows the work and adventures of photographers as they followed and captured the Northern Lights (or their proper name: aurora borealis), a celestial wonder that has fascinated man for centuries.
HAVE A LAUGH WITH JIMMY CARR
Join Jimmy Carr and his infamous laugh at the Newcastle City Hall for his Greatest Hits Tour. Performing new material as we’ll as his best loved jokes, you’ll be in stitches all night. If you miss him on June 17th, don’t worry as he will be returning to Newcastle on October 20th for a second round of giggles.

Go wild at Karting North East. Their 1.2km track can host unto 35 racers – team up with the family or channel wacky races and go for gold! Pop along to the Blue Reef Aquarium and see all the wonders of the ocean with your dad. The aquarium is home to: sharks, sting rays, turtles, countless species of fish, otters, monkeys, seals, iguanas. As well as their awesome aquatic exhibits, the aquarium will be running talks on fishy father figures, celebrating all the vast role of the father. Check out the feeding times of the various exhibits and meet the loveable creatures – the seals will melt your heart!
CHEERS TO A BEER AT WYLAM BREWERY TOUR
See how some of Newcastle’s best loved craft ales are born at a tour of Wylam brewery. Whether your dad’s an IPA fanatic or a die hard stout lover, the friendly team at Wylam will charm every beer drinker.If you still haven’t gotten your dad a gift, then why not opt for a selection of his favourite beers from the day to take home.
HEAR THE SOUNDS AT DURHAM BLUES, RHYTHM, ROCK FESTIVAL

Durham Blues Festival Returns to the Gala Theatre on June 17th. Headlining the main stage are Blues Legends Dr Feelgood and Aynsley Lister with support from Kyla Brox, Debbie Bond and up and coming group Red Butler. If you’re after something a little more intimate, Solid Entertainment are running an acoustic stage in the venue’s cafe with performances from some of the UK’s best blues singer-songwriters.
