Nesting in grand spaces can transform a weekend away into something really special and Captain’s Rest in Bamburgh is a real winner when it comes to luxurious furnishings and space.
The ground floor apartment is an Edwardian stunner, boasting plenty of original features. The living room is warm and sophisticated – think deep sofas and soft, velvety textures for snugness and a wood burning stove (an unlimited supply of logs is provided) to keep you warm on chilly evenings – even during summer. Technology includes a 50-inch Smart TV, DVD player and speedy fibre broadband.
For intimate suppers, the smart dining area is up for grabs – sit by the deep window bay where you can take in the views of Bamburgh coastline. A split level aspect leads down to a small sunny kitchen space, complete with a cafe table with french doors leading into the rear garden – a cosy nook to enjoy a rich Nespresso after a morning walk or jog along the golden sands. There’s also a cleverly designed pull-down bed integrated into the wall cavity, which can be included as an extra at an additional charge on request.
The kitchen benefits from underfloor heating and is well-equipped with all the necessities; an electric oven and grill, ceramic hob, large fridge/freezer, dishwasher and a Krups Nespresso coffee machine for all you caffeine lovers.
Over in the bedroom, you’ll discover a king-size bed, made perfect with high-quality linen, luxury goose down pillows and a Harrods microfibre duvet. The adjoining bathroom (a double shower room) provides you with a rainforest shower, heated towel rails, underfloor heating and a gorgeous double vanity unit. It’s probably the most modern room of all – made for pure, uninterrupted relaxation.
Outside the house is a large communal garden (the other nine apartments share this) and a pretty summerhouse – and the beach and village amenities are just a stone’s throw away. Private off-street parking sits to the side of the property.
For dining-out, enjoy fantastic seafood at The Potted Lobster, the Mizen for a superior eating experience, or the Victoria Hotel if you like great pub food. For provisions, The Pantry is a super deli, selling meats, cheeses, preserves, freshly baked bread and smoked fish as well as lots of naughty puddings which all come from renowned local suppliers across the area.
