Tynemouth
It’s the coastal gem that continues to enchant locals and steal the hearts of visitors all year round. A chic, sought-after seaside village that boasts old-fashioned charm, affluent good looks and some of the dreamiest beachy views in the UK. Park up in Tynemouth for posh seafood, spectacular strolls and luxury living and discover for yourself why this is a place definitely worth celebrating.
Eat at:
Longsands Fish Kitchen is the place to be if you like your seafood a little more sophisticated, but with the same sea-to-plate freshness. Slurp your way through steaming bowls of Lindisfarne oysters and Shetland mussels bathed in garlic and cream or Goan curry, and snack on lobster spring rolls and moreish shrimp burgers for lunch.
Shopped at:
The Land of Green Ginger is one of Tynemouth’s most recognisable landmarks, home to an eclectic mix of shops, from Longsands Clothing Co (a British alternative to the big California surf brands we all know and love) to the surprisingly popular Tynemouth Tattoo Company. Sweet-toothed wanderers should stop by Gareth James Chocolatier – known as the ‘corner chocolate shop’, loved for its artisan treats and the yummiest shop front window that’ll have you drooling long before you make it through the door. Razzberry Bazaar is also a must-visit; the lifestyle store has been going strong since the mid-80s and has become something of a village institution, famed for its globally-sourced gifts, jewellery, clothing and home accessories.
Strolled to:
Tynemouth’s beaches make it a world-renowned surfing destination and a sought-after spot for sublime strolls along miles of golden sand.
Start your stroll at Longsands Beach and head up towards Cullercoats where you can enjoy lovely brunch spots along the way – our favourite is The Boatyard and Beaches & Cream.
Parked up at:
We pulled up at The Priory car park near the Spanish Battery.
Park here, enjoy Marshall’s fish and chips with gorgeous sea views. There’s often a ice cream man here on a sunny day for a sweet treat.
