TURTLEDUST LOVES LIGHT UP NORTH

This spring, The LillianDaph Store, an artisan interiors store in Saltburn by the Sea, is hosting its second basement exhibition – and it’s set to be a belter!

Turtledust loves Light Up North is a creative collaboration between the North East’s infamous graphic designer and mischief-maker Turtledust, and the bespoke neon lighting talent Light Up North.

TURTLEDUST LOVES LIGHT UP NORTHExpect to see tongue in cheek humour, bold graphic design and intricate wired images, all in addition to the stores signature two-metre tall neon giraffe – made by the Light Up North team.

Storeowner Christina says: “I’m really excited about this ‘pop-up’. The guys from Light up North and Turtledust have produced work for some pretty big names lately – including Fortnum and Mason, and more locally the Guns Bar and Seaview restaurant both in Saltburn, so we feel super privileged to host their very first collaborative exhibition.

This kind of collective between like-minded artisans and designers is exactly what The LillianDaph Store is all about. We aim to provide a platform to champion the work of local artists and makers, and show off the creative talent in the North East; as well as detaching any pretentiousness that is sometimes carried with art exhibitions.

TURTLEDUST LOVES LIGHT UP NORTH“We are all really excited about the momentum in the town at the minute; Saltburn is starting to get the recognition it deserves. It was always the obvious choice for store location for us, we are besotted with it’s character and potential.”

Christina and husband Craig have further plans for the development of their interior store ‘with a difference’. The main focus is to ‘inspire people to explore alternative choices when it comes to their interiors’; with this in mind they have some diverse ideas for the coming summer months with this exhibition kicking them off.
