ENGLISH GARDEN MARGARITA

THE ENGLISH GARDEN MARGARITA

Patrón Tequila are in search of the third annual ‘Margarita of the Year’ winning recipe, to be announced on 17th April.

Earlier this year, the seven finalists gathered at the Hacienda Patrón distillery in Jalisco, Mexico, to create their own interpretations of a perfect margarita, drawing from local ingredients and cultural inspiration. The seven margarita recipes originate from cities across the globe from New York to Sydney and London to Mexico City, showcasing the versatility of Patrón Tequila.

ENGLISH GARDEN MARGARITAThe top seven margarita makers have since been reduced to three, one of whom is Yorkshire born Sophie Bratt, who currently works at London’s iconic OXO Tower Restaurant after several years work at Harvey Nichols Leeds’ Fourth Floor Cafe.

Sophie is a local Leeds girl, representing not only her home town but also the UK and Europe. Her entry is the beautiful English Garden Margarita combining green peas and Earl Grey with the all important ingredients, Patrón Tequila. It’s a brilliantly British twist on a classic margarita, using her favourite ingredients to create a sense of summer in just one sip. Because who doesn’t love tea and peas? Oh so British. Her exquisite cocktail is available to enjoy at any Harvey Nichols bar in the UK.

“My margarita represents my favorite thing to do: find a garden in the middle of London to sit, read and relax in.”

Lee Applbaum, Patrón’s Global Chief Marketing Officer says: “For years the margarita has been the most popular cocktail in the U.S., and for good reason given the tremendous creativity we’ve seen, particularly in the last several years as culinary and mixology trends have intersected. What’s really quite exciting to see is how much the margarita’s reputation has grown globally as local flavours and styles have been integrated into this iconic cocktail.”

ENGLISH GARDEN MARGARITAEach bartender selected to participate in this year’s ‘Margarita of the Year’ search created their own unique, flavourful cocktail, reflecting their personal influences on what makes the perfect margarita.

The ‘Margarita of the Year’ will be crowned on April 17, ahead of Cinco de Mayo, and the winning bartender will receive the coveted ‘Margarita of the Year’ trophy to exhibit in their bar.
