If you missed out on the glitziest event in entertainment history last week… have no fear – it’s Oscars night at the Sage this Friday! Join in on this dazzling evening of Oscar-winning film scores including the likes of Harry Potter, Star Wars, Lord of the Rings and Titanic. Everybody’s favourite movie scores… played out live on stage. The first half will see music from Beauty and the Beast, Pirates of the Caribbean and Somewhere Over the Rainbow to name but a few. And following the interval, the second half will play host to sensational scores including Harry Potter, Schindlers List, Lord of the Rings and Indiana Jones.

The Laing Art Gallery is ready to showcase the ever-popular illustrations of Quentin Blake in an exhibition starting this Saturday. Adults and children alike will be enthralled by Blake’s brilliantly distinctive style and varied use of mediums, made famous by his work with the best-loved, Roald Dahl. The airy galleries at the Laing are the perfect setting to enjoy prints of Blake’s iconic images in all their glory and gain an intriguing insight into his working relationships with other authors including John Yeoman, Russell Hoban and Michael Rosen. A must-see collaboration of art and literary classics.

Eat Drink Sunderland Restaurant Week is returning this Saturday 11 March right through to Sunday 19 March, for a week packed with unique flavours in the city’s finest foodie venues. Restaurants from across the city will be offering special two and three course menus, providing the perfect opportunity for foodies to sample their favourite dining destinations and to try something new. Boasting worldwide cuisine satisfying all taste buds, it will be difficult to pick just one venue for your foodie feast. Those who eat out during the week are encouraged to share their foodie snaps on social media using the hashtag #EatDrinkSunderland.
