A TASTE OF THE ORIENT

With holiday season in full swing, we find out why Anna Foster considers Hong Kong a 'magical' destination...

Anna Foster picSouth Shields-born BBC 5 Live presenter Anna Foster says the Far East is ‘magical’.

“We went to Hong Kong on honeymoon – it mixes little pockets of calm with towering skyscrapers and neon energy. We took a trip on the Star Ferry, and the wind blows through your hair as it weaves in and out of the crowd of boats. When it gets the dark skyline is lit up by a rainbow light show. We watched it with cocktails and then had dinner at the top of the famous Peninsula hotel. I love the way it all feels so exotic and different, right down to the outdoor escalators that climb the mountainside and the the jumble of tiny shops in Kowloon that sell everything you can think of. It’s a wonderful, vibrant place to go.”

Anna has been the voice of BBC Radio 5 for over a decade and is currently co-hosting BBC Radio 5 live’s Drive show alongside Peter Allen. Make sure you tune in to the motor fuelled show, which takes place weekdays 4-7pm on BBC Radio 5 live. Follow Anna on Twitter at @annaefoster.

Next week, Tyne Tees’ Pam Royle will be telling us why the charming French ski resort of Isola is her favourite destination…
