NORTH STAR CLUB, NORTH YORKSHIRE

If you consider yourself more of a ‘glamper’ than a camper, North Star Club’s range of woodland retreats will tick all your boxes. Founded by multi-award winning designers, Christian and Carolyn Van Outstersterp, the luxury campsite is home to a cluster of woodland suites, hidden away in the Yorkshire Wolds.

Six years ago, the pair said farewell to urban life and started up Jollydays Glamping, changing the face of British ‘glamping’ forever. They were the first people brave and bold enough to put four-poster beds and roll-top baths into vintage, safari-style tents, earning them a host of accolades and a loyal fan base.

North Star Club is there second venture, inspired by Christian’s North American heritage and his Canadian grandmother’s tales of the American Great Camps – rustic retreats, more akin to woodland hotels, out in the wilderness. The couple were keen to recreate the magic of these camps, in a rugged Yorkshire setting and the result is a serene and indulgent escape from the pressures of 21st century life.

There are eight suites to choose from, all with their own personality and unique style. Each have a cosy sitting room with a double sofa bed, one large bedroom with a kingsize bed and a wood burner, a second bedroom with bunk beds and a spacious bathroom.

Design-wise, they’re as chic as can be. Christian, a former landscape architect, and Carolyn, who trained in fashion, have put their visions, talents and expertise together to design and create breathtakingly beautiful spaces, stylishly built and dripping with luxury furnishings, that are for couples, families, groups of friends or colleagues, hen parties and weddings.
