The ball is a tribute night for the former Newcastle footballer Jonas Guttierez who made a friend of fans region-wide during his courageous battle with testicular cancer whilst a player at Newcastle.
The fund-raising event has been organised by NUFC’s Steve Taylor and the Ballboys charity which campaigns for support and research into testicular cancer. Latest supporters to sign up include Bentley.

Ladies Lunching
Lunch and networking were the magic ingredients at a ladies’ lunch which raised cash for Middlesbrough and Teesside Philanthropic Foundation.
Rudby Hall near Stokesley hosted 70 female business leaders in what Middlesbrough and Teesside Philanthropic Foundation aims to make an annual summer event.
Andy Preston, the charity’s founder and chairman told the guests that the Foundation had now raised more than £900,000 in four years, thanks to the support of local businesses and individuals.
Foundation trustee, Emma Simkins, of charity patrons Henderson Insurance Broking Company, said the inaugural event was a great success.
“The ladies loved getting together for a fun and informative event, dressing up for a drinks reception, networking and lunch. Best of all, we raised £2,700 for the Philanthropic Foundation, money that will go towards helping some of the most needy within Teesside’s community.

It’s a fund-raiser for women’s aid charity My Sister’s Place in Middlesbrough, a charity which has just won the support of Middlesbrough Football club in its campaign against domestic violence.

Starry night
Be part of a major fundraising concert supporting the work of Maggie’s and Sage Gateshead on October 8. From The Lion King, Jesus Christ Superstar and Evita to James Bond and many more, the songs of multiple-Oscar award-winning Sir Tim Rice will light up the stage at Sage Gateshead. Performed by some of the most successful artists straight from the West End and accompanied by Royal Northern Sinfonia. Sir Tim Rice himself will narrate stories from his personal life and career and will talk about how different songs came to life. This is a unique opportunity to step into the life and mind of one of the world’s most respected songwriters as well as enjoying and listening to his renowned music live on stage.

September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month and CLIC Sargent is asking you to do your very own ‘bake-off’ for a £170 challenge.
The sum is a grant that CLIC Sargent gives to families after a child is diagnosed with cancer, to stop unexpected costs like parking and petrol becoming a problem. Money may seem unimportant when a child is diagnosed with cancer, but families caring for a child with cancer often find that their costs go up and their income goes down. So every £170 raised this September could help. In the North East almost £48,000 was given out in CLIC Sargent Grants to families from across the area last year.
If you’re a fan of flapjack or a cupcake queen, show off your baking skills and whip up some tasty treats to sell to friends, family or workmates as part of The Power Of Cake. CLIC Sargent provides practical, emotional and financial support for children with a cancer diagnosis and Childhood Cancer Awareness Month is a chance to raise awareness of the impact of childhood cancer, and of CLIC Sargent’s work supporting young cancer patients and their families.
