FOR FAMILY…

WHAT'S ON THIS WEEK

Kick off February half term at Beamish. This Saturday, children are invited to a week long commemoration of the Washington Children’s Strike. To set the scene… Agricultural workers are signing up for war, there is naval warfare and a poor harvest, all of which are contributing to food shortages and high prices in Britain, leaving children hungry and dramatically losing weight. Things are about to change though as hungry pupils in Washington have had enough and are going on strike to campaign for free school meals! This week, your children can join in as they boycott school lessons and march to The Town to try to make a difference. Based on a real story, it’s fun, educational and will include lots of hands on activities.
